The reasons in a nutshell are : A it can connect radios to the Internet , B cryptography , and C patents . I can't comment on the laws in France as I have neither the time nor inclination to research them . Regardless , I think A is goofy , B is a stretch , and C is half right and is somewhat close to the reason D-STAR should be banned in France and the US . However , patents aren't the real issue , it's the closed and proprietary nature of the vocoder . Patent it all you like , the encoding technique needs to be published in order to be in

This is a type of short wave listening that isn't as popular now , I think , as it used to . be Radio amateurs probably know this , but for people reading this who don't know , here's a quick explanation . Commercial AM broadcast radio operates in North America between 530 and 1750 kHz , just below the amateur radio 160 meter band . That radio band has propagation properties similar to the amateur 160 meter band : it is mostly short-ranged during the day , but can propagate long distances at . night It is for this reason that

On that date , members of the public experiencing interference to radio or TV should lodge a complaint with the BBC using a web form which may advise them of issues such as a local transmitter . fault Some UK amateurs have expressed concern about the possible effect of this change , but I don't consider it likely to make much difference . As far as I can see , Ofcom will still be responsible for issues of interference to amateur radio such as that caused by PLT devices . These days , TVI and BCI are fairly infrequently
